PRIVATE, OFFLINE METADATA REMOVER

Remove metadata from files without uploading them

Inspect hidden EXIF, GPS, author, date and media tags. Create a separate cleaned copy. Verify it before you save.

MORE THAN A DELETE BUTTON

See what changes before it changes.

KillMetadata separates private data from descriptive, functional, structural and unknown fields. You see what will be removed, what must stay, and what needs review.

1
Inspect

Signature-first detection finds the container behind the filename.

2
Explain

Every known field is grouped by action, privacy risk and coverage.

3
Rewrite

A new copy is created while the source remains untouched.

4
Verify

A fresh worker scans the output instead of trusting the writer.

CURRENT COVERAGE

Writer and verifier availability, stated plainly.

We do not list inspect-only formats as if they can already create a clean copy.

Writer + verifier available

JPEG · PNG/APNG · WebP · GIF · PDF · DOCX · XLSX · PPTX · EPUB · ZIP · MP3 · M4A · FLAC · standard RIFF/WAVE · MP4 · MOV · WebM

Each file can still finish partial or be rejected when its structure is not fully covered.
Inspect only

TIFF/BigTIFF · HEIC/HEIF · AVIF · OGG

Known fields can be reported, but this build will not offer a cleaned copy.

A PRECISE PROMISE

Removes all supported privacy metadata — not “100% metadata-free.”

Visible text and faces, voices, steganography, filesystem attributes, hidden Office content and copies stored elsewhere are different problems. KillMetadata names those limits instead of hiding them.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you choose a file.

Privacy claims should be easy to check.

Are my files uploaded?

No. KillMetadata runs in your browser and has no server upload route. The file picker becomes available only after the static processor is cached and offline protection is active.

Does removing metadata change file quality?

Supported handlers do not decode or re-encode pictures or sound. Functional data such as orientation, color, timing and gapless playback is kept; removable codec user-data may be replaced without changing encoded frames.

How do I know the metadata is gone?

After creating a copy, KillMetadata terminates the writer and opens the output in a fresh worker. It reports verified-clean, partial or rejected before saving is allowed.

Does it remove visible names, faces or text?

No. It removes supported metadata carriers. Visible content, hidden Office content, steganography, filesystem attributes and previously shared copies need separate review.
